The Mystery Blogger Award!

It’s been so long since I’ve done an award and I’m sat here mildly disgusted at myself for being so bad at this!

I was nominated by the lovely pair at Findthebeautyy to do this! I found their blog recently and think they’re fantastic; check them out if you want a wonderful variety of posts! Thanks for nominating me; it means a lot.

Although I’ve done this award once before, I thought I’d revisit it because I remember loving it so much. Created by OkotoEnigma, it’s described by her as “An award for amazing bloggers with ingenious posts. Their blog not only captivates; it inspires and motivates. They are one of the best out there, and they deserve every recognition they get. This award is also for bloggers who find fun and inspiration in blogging; and they do it with so much love and passion.” I think that this perfectly captures the essence of blogging!

The Rules

1. Put the award image or logo on your blog.
2. Thank the person that nominated you and link their blog in your post.
3. Name the creator of this award and link their blog in your post.
4. List the rules.
5. Answer your nominator’s questions.
6. Tell your readers 3 things about yourself.
7. Nominate 10-20 people.
8. Ask your nominees 5 original questions of your choice.
9. Share links to your best blog posts.
10. Notify your nominees by commenting on their blogs.
There’s so much variety in this and it makes me happy! Right, here we go.

Findthebeautyy’s Questions

1. What is your reason for starting your blog?
I needed a place to vent my feelings out – an outlet – and I wanted to help people with their feelings too because everyone deserves to be heard. After the end of my last blog, I wanted to start again and I thought Elm was the perfect name and way with which to do it. Turns out I was right and if I can help at least one person through this, I’ll be happy.

2. What motivates you?
Motivation has always been a struggle but the main thing is when I know it’ll help me or someone else. Also, my life experiences give me motivation to either do something or not do something: when doing work, my main motivation is that I know that in the long run, it’ll have a positive outcome. Then again, I do have short bursts of that motivation; I need to work on it.

3. What is the most important thing to you?
This is so painfully cliché but it’s making people happy and helping them. I thrive most when helping others rather than myself and I think it’s so important to make other people smile. Of course I’ll look after myself but for me, I’m happy when others are too. Luckily, it’s a principle that has remained constant for me.

4. Who’s the most important person in your life?
Ahhh I’m not sure; I can’t name one specific person. My dad is very important to me as well as my friends and someone I was previously in a relationship with as all of them shape me as a person. It’s so difficult to choose – nope, I can’t do it. I’m so indecisive!

5. What makes you happiest on a bad day?
Having fun with friends which lets me remove the sadness. I really like positive atmospheres and so when I’m laughing, I’m the most happy even when I’m miserable. Smiling makes everything better, I think.

3 Things about Myself

1. I hate the feeling of sand on any part of my body apart from my hands.
2. I hardly ever watched TV when I was younger; I just listened to audiobooks and played outside.
3. When I laugh too hard I cry and then people often ask me what’s wrong; also my laugh is one of the most obnoxious things you could ever hear.

My Nominations

1. Sunset
2. The Anonymous Girl Writes
3. Formerly Myself
4. Maitreyee
5. Astrid
6. Smiling Dreamer
7. Indiesonglyrics
8. The Small Quiet One
9. Just A Blank Space
10. Rainbow Girl
11. Elsie LMC

Whether I’ve found these blogs yesterday or two years ago, all of them have beautiful writing styles and are unique in how they express themselves.

My Questions for You

1. Have you ever been in love?
2. What’s your favourite instrument and why?
3. What do you admire about yourself?
4. If you could take one lesson you’ve learned from blogging away with you, what would that be?
5. At the moment, what’s the thing you most want to do?

My Best Blog Posts

I critique myself a lot so this will be really difficult.
My Blog in the Real World
I’m Not Scared to Say What my Fears Are
Why I Write How I Do

I hope you enjoy answering those questions and if you don’t know any of the bloggers I’ve listed in my nominations, check them out! You won’t regret it.

The 2016 Blogger Awards!

Hello everyone!

If you were around last year, you may have known a girl called TheAmbivert123, AKA Ambi, who hosted the 2015 Blogger Awards. It was the most amazing thing, for me, that had happened all year; it brought so many bloggers together and spread positivity. Unfortunately, due to a few things, Ambi had to delete her blog early this year (which, of course, was very upsetting).

A few weeks ago, I received a lovely email from her, asking me if I wanted to host the 2016 Blogger Awards, as she wasn’t around yet still wanted it to continue. After I got over my complete shock and screaming fangirl moment, I accepted: it was my favourite part of last year, and I’m so incredibly honoured to carry it on. Thank you, Ambi!

Right, onto the Awards: if you weren’t here last year, you won’t know how it works, so I will explain. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask!

There are 12 categories in which to nominate blogs, or bloggers. They are listed below, with a description to help you to decide which blogs fit the award best. You can nominate anybody, and the blogger with the most nominations for that category will win the award. However, all nominees will be recognised.

The Rules (PLEASE READ)
• It is preferred if you nominate one blog/blogger per award, but if you’re finding this difficult, two should be the maximum.
• Post ALL NOMINATIONS on this post, or write a post that links to this post so that I am notified as to who you have nominated. If you don’t know how to make a pingback, you can always ask, or email me.
• If you do not link your nominations to this post in some way, they cannot be counted.
• You must link your nominees to their blog – just writing a name will result in confusion, because there are multiple Em’s to give an example.
• Please tag your blog posts that relate to the awards with the hashtag #2016BloggerAwards. This is so that both the readers and I can keep track of any nominations.
• Results will be posted on 31 December, to allow as many people to submit their nominations as possible.

The Categories
Blogger of the Year
A blogger that you feel has stood out this year as being very inspiring, kind, and who holds many of the qualities that you feel makes a fantastic blogger. This blogger can be one who you aspire to be and who’s personality traits cause them to, again and again, be seen as a central part of your blogging community, both to you and others.

Blog of the Year
Through their posts, the blog which you nominate for this category will have made an impact on the community with their writing. Each aspect of the blog is well thought-out, and their posts are both creative and original. Content, appearance and the effect you think this blog has had on you as a person and other people should contribute to why you nominated them.

Kindest Blogger
Somebody who has always been there with a lovely word if you feel down. They do not judge you, and can always be relied on to say the sweetest things no matter the situation that you find yourself in. Their comments are ones that stick in your mind because of their kind words, and they are nice to everybody and anybody.

Most Approachable Blogger
No matter the time of day or the amount of followers you have, you feel as if you can always talk to this blogger. Whether they have 10 followers or 10000, they do not make you feel unwelcome, and allow you to feel as if your opinions will be listened to. They’re friendly, and their personality makes it so that they are easy to have a conversation with.

Best New Blogger
A person who has, ∈spite not being in the Blogosphere for long, made an impact. This award is for those who have taken blogging in their stride, and right from the beginning, given it their all. They have firmly entrenched themselves within the community, emerging into blogging and not letting their ‘newbie’ status bother them.

Most Positive Blog
The posts on this blog, or this blogger’s personality, lift your mood whenever you are not feeling your best. They could write inspirational posts, or have the personality that allows you to smile when they comment or speak to you; a simple post or conversation with them can make you happy.

Most Helpful Blogger
Somebody who has always strived to help anybody, in any situation. This can be through their posts, or through any contact you have had outside of blogging. They have always helped you when you needed any assistance or advice, whether that would be with blogging or any real life situations, and they go out of their way to offer you this help.

Best Looking Blog
When you look at this blog, it should be obvious that they’ve spent some time on making it look amazing. It can be through the way they’ve organised it, the design in general, the best pictures: whatever element they’ve put into their blog, they’ve done it incredibly well. Remember, beauty is subjective, so don’t feel worried that other people may disagree with you.

Most Relatable Blog
Many of the posts that they write, you find yourself relating to. This can be because of their style of writing, or the stories that they share; when you read their blog, you think that you aren’t alone.

Most Creative Blogger
There are some people who have added wonderfully original ideas to the Blogosphere. These people have contributed awards, tags, challenges and anything else that has been very well created. As well as this, they could be a creative writer, artist or could be a musician – anything that showcases a talent, or brings something never brought before to the blogging world. This is flexible, so you can nominate 2 people if this one is especially difficult.

Funniest Blogger
This blogger will never fail to make you laugh. Through what they say, their posts or how they interact with people, they put a permanent smile on your face and can have you in stitches. They can be unexpectedly funny, can say the strangest things, but the one thing that this person has is a brilliant sense of humour.

The Wildcard
If you think that a blog/blogger should be recognised for an aspect of their blog/blogging personality that doesn’t fit a category on this list, then you can nominate them here, with the name of the aspect that they deserve and a comment. Though no one will necessarily ‘win’ this, those that stand out will be featured in the Results post.

I hope that you all have fun with this. Even if you don’t win, your blog will ALWAYS be valid, always be brilliant, because you’ve put so much work into it. This is a celebration of all the bloggers this year, new and old.

I couldn’t have set this up without the help of Tara – who, though she doesn’t post any more, is my closest and oldest blogging friend that remained so. In addition, L helped me out with the descriptions for some of the categories, so a huge thank you goes out to him as well.

Spread the word, everyone! Remember to tag your posts with 2016BloggerAwards!

Thanks to Ambi, again, for letting me host these awards. It means so much to me, and I can’t believe I’m getting to do this.

From Elm 🙂

The Respect Award!

Hey guys!

You can now faint in shock, because I’m actually DOING an award. What is this?!!! I must have been taken over by some alien.

I am so so happy, because Aditi and Azura both nominated me for the Respect Award, which made me grin insanely. Like you have no idea! THANK YOU!!!

There are just two rules to this award:
1. Paste the award picture in your post.
2. Answer the questions.

If you’re Elm, you’ll only abide by one because I’m SO bad with technology that I don’t even know HOW to paste that picture into my post, because I can’t FIND the picture (yay for phones being great).

The Questions:

What is respect and what does it mean to you?
Respect is when you think a person is fantastic, when every action they do inspires you, makes you feel like you’re worth something. It’s when they can argue with you, but you still admire them, because their arguments are sound and so valid that it knocks you down with the genius of it. It’s when no matter if you hate them, you will still always have a deep-rooted feeling of almost awe for them. It means being kind to them, having kindness returned, and always realising that even if you don’t agree with them, they won’t shoot you down for it. You’ll still be a friend, or an acquaintance. It’s a quiet feeling, solid and only changing with the most violent shift of personality, because you understand them and hold a ton of admiration for them. Respect is earned, not EXPECTED; if somebody is not kind and generous to you, how can they expect that FULLY in return?

Who do you respect the most?
Ooh, this is a tricky one. I’d say my father, because he always has listened to my opinions. He brought me up when it came to politics, and morals, and even when he and I are having an argument, he still makes me look at things from every angle, rather than just one. He’s the type of person who would NEVER expect me to respect him, because he knows that he’d need to earn it through being kind to people, which he is and that makes me respect him even more. Luckily, he isn’t the type of parent who would impose authority on me “BECAUSE I SAY SO!” which is so so great.

Which bloggers have earned your respect?
Too many to count. Honestly I love all you guys because you make me so happy and are always here to help, no matter what. But specific ones, who I’ll use as my nominees, are:

L. This goes without saying, but I have so much respect for this guy. He makes me laugh, is SO fabulous and can write thoughtful, and then hilarious posts. He’s always kind, and here for you whenever you need him, and he’s also organising a project that brings loads of people together and links it to blogging which is my favourite thing. He’s a part of the blogging community, and always comments the sweetest things. You are trés fantastique!

The Savage One AKA The Lonely Lion. This guy’s posts, and his attitude, just makes you respect him. You know he’d always listen to the other side of an argument, and I may not have known him long, but I think he’s fantastic and one of my favourite bloggers. His posts are thoughtful and it makes me smile, because he manages to write down my thoughts on certain topics, because he shares them.

Selfie is someone I’ve always respected. Back in November, she contacted me for the first time to ask if I was okay, and that simple gesture nearly made me cry because it was just so KIND. Ever since then, she’s been such a good friend – funny, thoughtful and she understands me on a level that’s scary. I can always come to her if I feel terrible and THAT’s why I respect her so much.

Luna has been right there from the start. First of all, through her posts, I got the image of a kind and caring person, who was alternately funny and then hit you in the face with her real posts so that you’d stand up and listen. Over the last year, the comments she’s left on my posts have been some of the most beautiful, and most supportive, I’ve ever read. She says she’s bad at advice, but to me, she couldn’t be a better friend.

Crystal is someone who I found relatively recently, and I am SO glad I did. She makes me laugh and writes the best posts and comments, and even though she hasn’t known me that long, she STILL is here for me which is so great. As with so many other bloggers, she has such a kind heart and is never afraid to just message me whenever and have a conversation.

You are all so wonderful, and I don’t know what I’d do without this blog as I ALWAYS say. I’ve missed doing awards like this, because it’s fun and makes me think. Hopefully, it’ll make you guys happy too.

From now on, I’m going to start doing awards. A LOT. If anyone nominates me for anything, please do let me know – by leaving a comment on one of my posts or pages, or by making a pingback to one of my posts. I really want to get back into the swing of things (WOAH I’ve become motivated!)

Have a brilliant day, you fabulous souls 😀

The Miranda Sings Award!

I scheduled this post because rebel extraordinaire.

The Social Media Blog Tag!

OH MY GOD

I’M DOING AN AWARD

WHAT THE FUCK!

This tag was created by the amazing Chloe AKA Diary of a Lonely Girl, and it’s AWESOME.

Rules:
1. Thank the blogger who nominated you – THANK YOU SO MUCH! You’re amazing, and your comment made me smile so much.

2. Choose a blog or blogger per category and explain why you chose them.

3. Optional – At the end of each explanation, include a gif or a hashtag that best describes them.

4. Tag others to do this (it’s up to you how many).

The Categories:

Instagram – A Blog With A Design You Love:
I’m incredibly biased here, but it always will be Caitlin because she has astounded me with how good she is at design. I’m forever indebted with her for designing my blog, because THAT means so much to me. From what I hear, she’s also an amazing photographer 🙂

Facebook – A Blog With A Friendly Blogger
My friend from Letters to Eemma. This girl is the loveliest person, I swear; she’s someone who can make me laugh and think really deeply about everything. Plus, she was so incredibly friendly to me when we first started talking, and there aren’t many people who I can say I truly click with like her.

Twitter – A Blogger Who Could Write just 140 Characters And You Would Still Love Them
L. How could it NOT be L? He’s hilarious, and he could write something in 140 characters that would have you in stitches. Well, he HAS done that, actually.

YouTube – A blog You Are Convinced You Are The Number 1 Fan Of
HA, hands down, Em. MAN, that’s arrogant of me, but I think she’s a fantastic person and I could read her blog forever. Whenever I see a new post, I’m immediately there, because she’s always inspired me no matter what.

Vine – A Blog You Haven’t Been Following For Long, But Who You Still Obsess Over
I’m not entirely sure HOW long I’ve been following her, but this one has to be Shay. She’s the type of person who’s posts are ALWAYS relatable, no matter the topic, and she makes me smile.

Snapchat – The Blogger Who’s Updates You Can’t Wait For
DEFINITELY Luna because her posts always cheer me up. She’s one of the kindest people you’ll meet, and she’s been here from the start; I’ve been obsessively stalking her posts – UM I MEAN reading her posts a lot – ever since I found her blog, god knows when that was.

Tumblr – A Blog Which Keeps You Entertained
I’M SORRY, but this is always going to be Anthony. He is fantastic, funny, and his posts are absolutely BRILLIANT. That’s why he won funniest blogger… Shh. Mark my words, he’s great.

Pinterest – A Blog Which Is Full Of Creativity And Inspiration
I’d say Reine‘s blog, for the simple fact that she inspires me every single day. She’s my blogging idol, someone I look up to, and all around an amazing person. And her blog? Her posts ALWAYS give you advice, and that’s the mark of a wonderful blog.

I’m copying Chloe here, where I nominate everyone I’ve tagged – hope you don’t mind!

Massive Apologies

Alright guys.

I’ve not been very nice recently.

The challenge I created – it turns out that WASN’T an original idea of mine. It was (correctly) pointed out to me that this idea was a central part of somebody’s blog. I can only apologise for that “slipping my mind” – that’s not an excuse.

The blogger you SHOULD be crediting is Brutally Honest.

At the time, I remembered and that was stupid and I can only apologise for that. If this happens again, please PLEASE let me know.

Again, I’m REALLY sorry. I never meant to steal your idea, mainly because I didn’t realise it was yours. I don’t know how to explain myself.

The Quote Challenge: Day 2

Ey! 🙂

So as I said in yesterday’s long-arse post (BLARGH) – I got nominated for the Three Day Quote Challenge.

Thank you to the stars and back to The Storyteller AND Chitchat. for nominating me for this challenge! You two are brilliant 🙂

For the nominations, view yesterday’s post. Because I’m a lazy bastard, I lumped the awards together like a pro, so I’ve nominated 10 blogs for this thing. HEH. Wow.

I have to post 3 quotes, 1 each day, over 3 consecutive days. And this is day 2 (SERIOUSLY? Way to state the obvious, Elm).

My quote for today:

“Love isn’t restricted to the 2AM thoughts about them, and it isn’t restricted to what they can give you or what you can give them. It isn’t restricted to anything.”

Um, mighta made that up. Skills…

Hmm… I have a post coming up today but I’m not sure what to blog about. Would you rather read:

1. Something motivating and about a current issue
2. Something funny which happened today
3. An update on my (pathetic) love life?

I has the plans for each. MWAHAHA. Oh god I need to grow up.

It’s… AWARD TIME! (oh god this post is long)

THIS POST IS MASSIVE. I’m warning you! 😀

I’ve got some awards to do. Many awards. I LOVE YOU GUYS!

Okay, what I’m going to do is list the awards and who nominated me for them. Then I’m going to nominate a few blogs for ALL the awards, and it’s up to you to decide which one or ones you do. Because I honestly refuse to do four individual posts.

My Nominations

Sam O. Bscure
Lady Mary’s Sorting Hat

Hayley

Simple Head Girl

My Irrelevant Thoughts

theenextgen

A Little Daydreamer

I Am Odd

Shivani

Always Opinionated Girl

The awards I got

Thank you so much to everyone for nominating me for these! THANK YOU! Literally what the Oscar this means so much!

2. I used to laugh when people fell over (because I was a little shit) – no really; I just never knew what to do.
3. I used to, when I was about 7, carry around a tape recorder and speak into it all the time. Don’t know if it was cute or scary.

Freestyle Writing Challenge by Everything and Nothing

Rules:
1. Open a blank document
2. Set a stopwatch or your mobile phone timer to 5 or 10 minutes, whichever challenge you prefer.
3. Your topic is at the foot of this post BUT DO NOT SCROLL DOWN TO SEE IT UNTIL YOU ARE READY WITH YOUR TIMER!!
4. Once you start writing, do not stop until the alarm sounds!
5. Do not cheat by going back and correcting spelling and grammar using spell check (it is only meant for you to reflect on your own control of sensible thought flow and for you to reflect on your ability to write with correct spelling and grammar).
6. You may or may not pay attention to punctuation or capitals.
7. At the end of your post write down ‘No. of words =___’ to give an idea of how much you can write within the time frame.
8. Do not forget to copy paste the entire passage on your blog with a new topic for your nominees and copy paste these rules with your nomination (at least five (5) blogs).

The topic I had was memories, and I set the timer for 5 minutes.

Memories. Oh god, memories.

Perhaps they’ll stab at you when you close your eyes. Oh, I don’t know! Whatever it happens to be, they’re always there.

Always.

HA! Think I’m joking? Nah.

Okay. So when you think of memories, as often think of sad ones. It’s only natural – I mean, the saddest memories often stick with us forever.

What am I saying?! Literally, what!

Maybe I’m trying to talk about myself. It’s easier to say ‘I’ and ‘mch’ but I honestly can’t. I’ve strayed from the topic, haven’t I?

Memories. They can be beautiful, like silk spread out on green grass, whilst the wind ruffles it up into little hillocks. Or it can be painful, like knives spinning in the air, clicking and clacking as their metallic blades flash in the sunlight. Or even hollow – like a booming chasm, every step a bang of a gunshot or the rumble of rocks tumbling down, down, down.

It all depends on what you remember. What memories spring to mind.

Think. Just THINK! What comes forth, first? The last conversation you just had? The hearbreak that you can’t mend, even if you try to shove the little pieces back together? The happy feeling of having your friends with you – that swooping, soaring feeling in your chest when you get complicated?

ARE they memorie? Or feelings?

I think they’re memories. Because with every feeling comes an associated memory. Think of the silk, or the knives or the chasm. Just think of them – what do you remember?

It’s beautiful, sometimes. Really, really beautiful, and I often feel like my chest is being crushed from the force of rememberance.

A whisper. A word someone says. The smell of the air when I breathe in. It all reminds me of…

Him. OF ALL THINGS!

No. of words: 301

YOUR topic is: volcanoes.

(Yes, weird, but whatever – I’m being somewhat creative!)

The Versatile Blogger Award by Finding my Opti in this mist (Geddit? and Lady Mary’s Sorting Hat

Rules:
1. Thank the person who gave you this award. That’s common courtesy. OI, puny mortals, learn some of those manners, yeah?! Yeah! (The hell am I even…)
2. Include a link to their blog. That’s also common courtesy. “See what I mean! LEARN ‘Em!” I don’t even just… Adding my own spin on this award, like a pro.
3. Nominate 15 deserving blogs you have discovered recently for the Versatile Blogger Award. Um I… Not 15 I… I… I’M SORRY!
4. Finally, tell the person who nominated you 7 things about yourself.

1. I’ve written 4 – 5? songs. Ha, shameless self-promotion.
2. If I could choose one thing to see, I’d see the stars. Too sentimental blurgh.
3. I used to have a guinea pig called Brucey, but a fox got him. Bastard.
4. I sound like a horse when I speak.
5. I’m sometimes serious and sometimes funny, and I often can’t tell which I’ll be until I am.
6. I DO have a favourite colour – it’s blue. I think.
7. I’m as Atheist as they come, but I’ll only argue with someone over religion if they’re either trying to convert me or they don’t respect my beliefs.

Sorry I… That post was so long and my hands and eyes now hurt 😦
